Schneider-Kreuznach is responding to the desire of ambitious amateur photographers by presenting a recalculated, extremely compact telephoto lens for size 1 shutters at the Photokina 2008. The target group for this new design are customers with field cameras from various vendors in formats from 4"x5" to 8"x10" who are looking for a compact, light-weight, low-cost lens with outstanding resolution.
This lens has a focal length of 350 mm at an aperture of 11. The wide covering power of 350 mm makes it possible to use the lens up to a format of 8"x10" or 18 cm x 24 cm. Even when fully open, the apochromatically corrected lens, fully symmetrical with four lenses, exhibits excellent reproduction performance and has a homogeneous resolution with very high contrast at a working aperture of 16 or 22.
Field cameras with short bellows extensions of up to approx. 320 mm can use an accessory lens barrel, which shortens the distance between the lens and the camera by approx. 44 mm without mechanical vignetting resulting in a distance between lens and camera of 280 mm. The back of the barrel has a size 3 thread so that conventional lens board with a size 3 diameter can be used.
